Depart from the USA or Canada on a flight to Delhi.

Days 3-4

Explore New Delhi this afternoon, including Qutub Minar, Humayun's Tomb, the India Gate and Rashtrapati Bhawan. In Old Delhi, visit Raj Ghat, Delhi's monument to Mahatma Gandhi, the Red Fort citadel and the great mosque of Old Delhi, Jama Masjid. Your second afternoon is at leisure.

Day 5

This afternoon, fly to Udaipur. Upon arrival, you are driven to your spectacular fort-palace hotel in the Aravalli Hills.

This morning, enjoy an evocative visit to the temples of Eklingji and Nagda. Later, board a motorboat launch (water levels permitting) for a lake cruise on the placid waters of Lake Pichola, visiting Jag Mandir Palace, a fairy-tale vision on its very own island.

Day 6

After exploring the City Palace along the shores of Lake Pichola, stop at the Crystal Gallery located in Fateh Prakesh Palace. Continue to Sahelion-Ki-Bari, also known as the "Garden of the Maids of Honor."

Days 7-8

Fly to Jaipur this morning; then begin an afternoon of exploration. Admire the amazing astronomical devices at the outdoor Jantar Mantar Observatory and visit Jaipur's most famous building, the pink sandstone Hawa Mahal or "Palace of the Winds." On your second day, explore the Amber Fort, followed by an elephant ride at a local village accompanied by a professional mahout.

Days 9-10

Travel to Ranthambore, Rajasthan's first Project Tiger reserve. In this 150 square-mile sanctuary of thick forests, you are likely to see spotted deer, nilgai (blue bull) antelope and chinkara (Indian gazelle). Three safari drives give ample opportunity to search for the elusive tiger.

Day 11

Journey by train to Bharatpur, then by road to Agra, where you enjoy sunset at the Taj Mahal.

Day 12

After breakfast enjoy a sightseeing tour of Agra; then visit the imposing Agra Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site built of red sandstone and marble.

Days 13-14

After a sunrise stop at the Taj Mahal, return to Delhi, stopping en route at Sikandra, the tomb of the great Mughal emperor Akbar.
